The “Invincible” Order

It’s interesting to see the Order continue to taut its invincibility due to the word and “righteousness” of their cause. It seems that because of their divine mission, they are impervious and need fear none. Also, according to them, they need not fear, as miners will never fight back, gank back, or act against them because of the assumed above stated reasons.

If that’s the case, I guess these tanks are just for aesthetics, right?

Bumper thug Guybert, despite the bravado of himself and his ilk, seem to hold less faith in the notion of their “good work” and the “fact” that miners would never react to them by ganking, and more faith in walking a walk very different from their talk. Do Shield Extenders and Shield Rigs really have a need on a bumping ship if there is “no risk” of miner retaliation?

New bumper thug Simon Lindsay seems to also have caught onto the bumpgeois’ unspoken rule. Despite not having Tech 2 shield systems, he ended up equipping something. To cover it up his lack of Tech 2 shield systems, the “brave” bumper even placed a cloaking device on his Stabber! Better safe than sorry right?…But…wait? What’s there to be sorry about if miners would never retaliate?

Pilot Zak Fey was another bumper pontificating about his invincibility to all anti-bumping forces…but, when asked a certain question, he seemed to…buckle.

As the saying goes; Welp.

Even Pro-Bumper Miner turned Bumper Audrik Villalona seems to have more faith in tanking against his betrayed comrades’ wrath rather than assume they would simply do nothing. I guess if I not only paid the “order,” but then began bumping my fellow miners, I’d be a bit frightened of retaliation as well. Hell hath no fury like a hundred miners’ scorn.

On can’t help but wonder what other equipment the “order” is packing. You know. Just in case the miners decide to rise against them. Which, you know, they said could never happen….

Publicity Galore!

The Forums are alive with banter and discussion of the Proveldtariat! Love it or hate it, the movement is in the public eye and opinions are all over the place! Twenty-one pages of discussion and more than 4,000 views. Talk about publicity…

Players came into support the movement and its work. Not everyone is in the fight, but opinion is not just pro-bumper. Many players are happy to see miners taking the initiative and fighting back to protect their game play and their free time!

Even our foes commended the action of the miners and their work! Granted, the credit they displayed was, of course, for themselves. But we all know who’s really to credit for it. That’s right, I’m looking at you. Yes you! With the Skiff!

Brainstorming was evident throughout the thread. sackofdung Sasen provided interesting commentary that warranted further testing for the benefit of all miners affected by the bumper infection. While perhaps a bit of effort to execute, the potential of the idea to work far and its inherent benefit is far from something to be ignored!

Pilot Lin-Young Borovskova popped in to deliver a taste of the bumpers own medicine with an interesting musing. Why do the bumpers assume all miners are botters, or are bot-aspirants? Who are they to assume and pass judgement? Clearly, they have no credibility to do so. But of course they’ll rant, rave, scream, and denounce any speaking out against them as individuals “protecting botters.” I’m sorry, I didn’t know my game play style would hurt your feelings so bad…

Bumpers turned hostile when I attempted to discuss the theoretical actions CCP could implement to curb bumping. He seems to have missed the entire theoretical part of the discussion, as he lashed out. I believe I may have hit a nerve, and for that I’m sorry.  Sad to see such outcry at simple discussion. But what can also be seen are further assumptions as noted before hand.

The bumpers assume that all miners not speaking in local are bots or “bot-aspirants.” They must have forgotten voice comms, private chat, corp chat, alliance chat, player channels, Developer channels, etc, etc…One can’t help but wonder if the bumpers just want someone to talk to them. Maybe they’re lonely? Maybe that’s why all this started?

I suppose that’s a question for another day. Either way, the word is out and the people are talking! Impatient bunch as they are, they demand action now! I say, patience is a virtue, and good things come to those who wait. Keep up the good work miners, casual gamers, PvE’ers, PvP’ers and others supporting the Proveldtariat. We have an audience now! Let’s not disappoint  shall we?

If Just One Resists, It’s All Worth It

I’ll start this post off by saying this; I’m fully aware people are spitting on our name, using chat logs against us, and even threatening us. We’ve received death threats (in game and out), gank threats, war dec threats, been told we are nothing, we are scum, and we are embarrassing. We’ve been threatened with our past, with our corps, friends, you name it.

But you know what? It’s TOTALLY worth it.

Not counting out of game threats (that neither bumpers OR proveldtariats should EVER use), this action against us is what keeps us going. We hope that with our small actions of resisting, of speaking against some elitists about their actions against more casual Eve players, and of providing miners the tools to resist and resurge, we inspire at least one miner to action.

If even one miner resists, the threats, the slander, and the wars are all worth it.

It seems, though, that a lot more than just one miner is resisting the scam of the bumpers!

While Tolle has been hit hard by the bumpers, a corporation of very industrious miners has worked together to utilize nestling tactics to keep themselves safe. The ice asteroid shown above is surrounded by a number of much larger ice asteroids. The miners positioned themselves in such a way that a bumper trying to hit them would, for the most part, bounce of the invisible walls of the roids, and bounce around like a pin ball away from the miners.

Now I’ve said this once, and I’ll say it again; There is no such thing as a 100% safe way to play.

I know some people wish there were, but Eve isn’t that kind of game. But isn’t that why we play? Casual or not, we’re in Eve because it’s unique. Whether you pew or mine, it’s fun, plain and simple. Just because you decide to play one way, does not mean someone else should get to bully you around. That’s why this movement started. That’s why it continues. Just seeing a group of miners like this work together to allow themselves to play is enough to keep us going.

All around New Eden, casual miners and gamers are stowing their mining lasers, if only for a bit, to grab a gun and join the fight. Ganks, war decs, and a plethora or other resistance is spread across Eve working in so many ways to protect themselves. It’s absolutely amazing to see.

If you have a story of resistance you want to share, send it to us! If you’d like to be Anonymous regarding your actions, that’s perfectly fine too. Send us a screenshot of your work, whatever it is, big or small, and we’ll be happy to share it.

Keep up the fight Proveldtariats. Let them shame us, spit on our name, and shove guns in our faces. We’ll keep on plowing through. Fly Safe and Fly True. o7

New Series! The Miner Bar

I was driving home this weekend and thinking about a friend of mine who bar tends for a small Irish pub in my state. He mixes not only liquors and juices in the traditional way, but liquors and beers in a way I didn’t think possible! Another interesting fact is that he happens to play Eve and very much enjoys mining. So, in his spare time while he mines and chats with corp mates and friends online, he experiments with different drink combinations to taste. He said he’d be happy to forward new recipes and, if there’s enough of them, we’ll be adding a page on it!

If you have any drink or food recipes that have an Eve twist, send them to the Proveldtariat email at proveldtariat@gmail.com to get it posted on here! Who says mining’s boring when you have things like this, eh? Drink up fellow Provelds!

ROUGH MORPHITE

Recipe:

Image

1 pint of Hard Cider

1 shot Blackberry Currant Liquor (Chambord, Blackberry Schanpps, etc)

1/2 shot Vodka

Just mix and shake, NO ICE. It’s an interesting spin on the Black & Cider recipe. I thought the Vodka would end up…making it just odd, but surprisingly it didn’t! A good sharp taste from a bright red drink. Enjoy!

What Retribution will mean for the Proveldtariat

Post by A.N.U.

On December 4th, 2012, CCP will be releasing EVE Online: Retribution, the 18th expansion to EVE Online. It will include three major changes: a long-needed update to bounties, five new ships and, perhaps most importantly to many players, a new iteration of Crimewatch. But what do these changes mean specifically for the Proveldtariat?

New Ships, New Roles

EVE Online: Retribution will introduce five new ships to EVE’s already-huge collection. This will include four new destroyers (one for each race) and an ORE mining frigate.

Obviously, as miners the ORE frigate is going to have the largest effect on the way we play – and sadly, that might not even be that much. As a frigate, the ‘Dasher’ (not the final name) will be much faster than current mining barges, as well as much lighter and having a considerably smaller cargo hold.

For people who tend to go AFK for a short while and return to the keyboard quickly, this could be perfect. With even the smallest of speed fits, there’s no way that this frigate could be bumped out of range if it was orbiting at 500m. You would, however, need to empty the hold relatively often, so for those who like to leave their ships for an hour or more, this would not be ideal.

How much of a difference does this make? Well, not an awful lot, actually. A speed fit Skiff is already highly impractical for a bumper to bump, and has a much larger ore hold. Using the frigate would be a great way to mock the bumpgeois, but sadly it won’t achieve much more than that that the Skiff can’t already do.

Bounty Hunting

In general, a miner can be expected to have more ISK available than a miner bumper (unless, of course, the bumper is James 315 himself, who is stupidly rich from his ‘shares’ scam). This suggests that if miner bumpers and miners had an equal motivation to place bounties on each other, the miner bumpers would end up with greater bounties.

In reality, miners are going to have a greater motivation to place bounties. Miner bumpers already get their amusement from bumping defenseless miners, and so are less likely to place bounties on miners. There are also far more miners than bumpers. This should mean that soon after December to 4th, many miner bumpers will have significant bounties on their heads, while the percentage of miners that have bounties is much smaller.

However, a prospective bounty hunter would, in general, be more likely to target a miner than a bumper, because miners are easier targets – bumping ships are fast and often field a shield fit, while mining ships are slow and wield mining lasers. This means that, overall, miners and miner bumpers will each suffer similar amounts from bounty hunters – bumpers will have larger bounties and therefore get attacked for longer, but miners will be juicier targets.

In conclusion, then, the bounty changes are unlikely to change the balance in the conflict between miners and bumpers, but will likely cost both sides money.

Crimewatch

Crimewatch 2.0 should, in general, make Hisec a safer place for mining. While it won’t affect bumping at all, it will make it so that any successful ganker can be made a free target for anyone who wishes to purchase the kill right. Obviously, this will dissuade many gankers from having go at miners, especially since kill rights are now awarded on aggression rather than an actual kill.

The other side of the coin is that it will become similarly harder for a miner to effectively gank a bumper – it would allow a kill right on the miner’s ship at any time, and that would be a huge inconvenience. However, since the number of miners ganked in a day is, as a rule, larger than the number of bumpers ganked in a day, this should have a greater positive effect on us than it does on bumpers.

Apologies and Update! Bumper Tracker now Live!

Greetings Comrade o7

I first would like to apologize for my lack of updates yesterday. It was my turn to post, but the election had me a bit preoccupied! But now it’s back to business as usual; fighting the Bumpers and giving the Miners the tools to fight them!

As you may have noticed, there is now a new page on the left hand side. I’m happy to announce the new Bumper Tracker is live and will be updated as information is provided to us! For now, there are limitations as to what we can provide in terms of intel, but the more you help us, the more we can help the Proveldtariat safeguard the game play we are entitled to!

Rise up miners, missioners, high security citizens, and all walks of life of the Proveldtariat! Information is our greatest weapon!

For Liberty of Game!

For Freedom of Choice!

For the casuals, the PvEers, the miners, the missioners, the high sec citizen, and ALL Proveldtariats!

Bumpgeois Tracking

Greeting Comrades o7

I apologize for not communicating with you all during the weekend through a post. I come to you now with a potential idea for you all. As you all know, the scourge of miner bumping continues. However, we have seen a wane in a few systems bravely resisting these EXTORTIONISTS. For that, you are all to be commended. Your unity has ensured your right to game play survives.

Now, I come forth with a proposal. We must track these bumpers everywhere they go. To do this, I beseech you all for information. Miners are far spread and in every system. The Proveldtariat have eyes and ears everywhere, literally. Eve’s proletariat know all and see all. Therefore, we shall use that knowledge to the benefit of all miners.

Send en eve-mail to Anslo if and when you see or are harassed by a bumper. Tell him where and when you saw them along with what ship they flew. Give a full name as well. We will take care of the rest.

Our goal is to develop a database of all bumpers. All of them. Where they go, what they fly, what they do. We will publish it for all miners to see. What they choose to do with that information is liberty of choice to them. We look forward to its creative uses.

For now, we await submissions. The database will hopefully be running by this week with your help. Together, we will push back this vile infection in our peaceful homes. We will rise, we will eliminate this threat…and we will promptly return to afk-mining!

We Will Not Be Intimidated by Criminal Threats

It’s sad to see the community of Eve be so polarized as to openly hate and attack anyone who does not coincide with their gameplay. It truly is disheartening. When I started in 2007, the hostility was nowhere near this level. People trolled here and there, but nothing was malicious.

Now we have a vocal group in the forums screaming against those who would play “the wrong way” in a sandbox game where there is no “wrong way” to truly play. We continue to see beratement  against the Proveldtariat of “leave the game,” “you’re not worth it,” “gb2 WoW,” “stfu carebear,” and the ever popular Hello Kitty Online references. These sentiments have grown into the game, assaulting the very people of High Sec during their time of leisure and joy. They call and execute a Highsecution never seen before.

Charming, aren’t they?

But I tell you this, and it is what you already know. YOU ARE ENTITLED TO PLAY YOUR WAY. Outside of the game we have jobs, lives, family, better halfs, siblings, social lives…yet here we are being told by the game’s “elite” that we are NOT allowed to play our own way, the way that suits us and relaxes us and lets us have fun, as they don’t believe it is “Eve-like.”

Who are they to define what is Eve-like? What is this delusion of grandeur these people are so enveloped in?

These bumpers claim emergent game play is the basis for their…style. Tell me, what sort of “play” involves ruining an individuals free time? I’ll give you a hint, it’s not any kind of play, but malicious intent.

That is why the Proveldtariat exists. As the united proletariat of Eve, we must resist these extortionist highway robbers imposing a faux code of conduct on a solar system that is not their’s.

No brave Proveldtariat, the system belongs to YOU. YOU work hard, you mine, you take the minerals, you provide us all affordable ships, you give new players a chance at grabbing those pleasant and shiny cruisers and battlecruisers as they play through Eve.

And now the Bumpgeois would take that from you! From us all! Claiming it to be to the “benefit” of the miners, saying they’re “letting miners make more money.” But are they?

No. They are not. They extort YOU of your hard earned isk for THEIR own coffers under the guise of influencing the market when in fact, there is no influence save for that which they IMPOSE and FORCE on your game time! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

We will rise miners. We will fight them, industrialists. We will resist them, missioners. We will endure them, PvPers. We will persevere, explorer. And we most certainly will thrive, dear wormholer. For we are Eve’s lifeblood, we are the heart and blood of this game enabling it to function. WE are the proletariat workers who feed and provide to ALL through the sweat of our brow. HOW we do that is irrelevant, but we do it! AFK OR NOT!

LET NO  PROVELDTARIAT ever FEAR how they play, for you do not deserve that fear. You do NOT deserve retribution in a game for YOUR FREE TIME. You should not and DO NOT have to leave because “Eve is not for you.” Eve IS for you. Eve IS you. Remember that brave and dear Proveldtariat. You are this game, and you will rise and throw off these shackles.

Remember my comrades, we will fight this, we will endure. Spread the word to ALL miners, missioners, ALL of the Proveldtariat. We are here. We are unified. And we will win.

RESIST COMRADE! o7

Welcome Comrade!

Welcome to the website for all Proveldtariat! This site has been established for the benefit of those miners who have become victims of the Bumpgeois, the bumper extortionists that detract from the joy of the game and free time of the individual.

This website will also help to serve the other members of the Proveldtariat including industrialists, mission runners, traders, etc who may be victimized by the Bumpgeois (bitter vets, predatory PvPers, griefers, etc).

It is high time the workers and bloodlife of Eve have a voice and home of their own outside the vitriol of the Bumpgeois of Eve.

For the Proveldtariat!
